Shark Reader is designed to keep a child's reading and award information private. It does not use advertising, behavioral tracking, or a Calm Belt Code user account.

Reader information
Shark Reader can store the reader's name, grade, teacher, Renaissance reading range, quiz history, books, points, award progress, and related settings. These details are used to organize reading progress and prepare Reading Masters forms.
This information is kept with Shark Reader's app data rather than being used to create a Calm Belt Code profile or advertising identity.
Automatic Quiz Email
If you enable Automatic Quiz Email, you add a private Shark Reader address to Renaissance so qualifying quiz-result messages can be recognized and added to the reader's history. Shark Reader does not need your Renaissance username or password for this feature.
Quiz-result information is used only to support Shark Reader's reading-history and award features.
Renaissance History Importer
The optional Mac and Windows importer works with Renaissance pages that you sign into yourself. The generated .sharkreader file can contain reading-history information such as quiz score, quiz date, book information, AR/ATOS information when available, points, and the current Renaissance reading range.
The importer does not place your Renaissance password, browser cookies, authorization headers, or browser session tokens in the Shark Reader import file. The Windows importer uses a temporary Edge profile and removes it after a normal run.
Storage and backup
Reading data is stored on the iPhone with recovery copies and private iCloud backup when available. You can review backup status from Shark Reader's Data settings. Deleting Shark Reader removes its local app data from that device; iCloud data is governed by the user's Apple/iCloud settings and available Shark Reader data controls.
Book covers, catalogs, and external services
Shark Reader may request book covers, catalog information, or open external library and book-service pages. Those services can receive ordinary network information such as an IP address and the requested page or file. Calm Belt Code does not use those requests to build an advertising profile or track the reader across apps.
Analytics and advertising
Shark Reader does not contain third-party advertising and does not use behavioral tracking to build profiles of readers. Calm Belt Code does not sell Shark Reader reading data.
Children's privacy
Shark Reader is intended to be configured and managed by a parent or guardian. It does not require a child to create an online account, provide an email address, or interact with advertising.
Support
If you contact Calm Belt Code for support, the information you choose to send—such as an email, screenshot, or importer log—is used to respond to the support request.
